On January 17th, 24 volunteers accepted an assignment to invest $100 in God’s Kingdom. There were 5 youth in that group! Each week in Lent one of them will be sharing during the children's message a little bit about their project. Our first presenter is in 6th grade and here is his story about his kingdom assignment.
Dear friends in Christ,
I thought about it for a while and thought that my number one goal was to get as many people as possible to help out on my Kingdom Assignment. Then shortly after, I got an email from my Uncle Chuck telling me about his project. My uncle is a missionary. After praying, I decided to help him out and get him the money he needs to make this mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo possible. I am donating the $100 that I got from the kingdom assignment and $20 of my own at age eleven to this project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo more than one out of every five kids dies before the age of five. This is due to the lack of clean water and nutritional food. They also lack protection against mosquitoes and their diseases. They don’t have basic medical supplies and people that know how to use them. Redeemer Lutheran Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Congo, Pastor Chuck and I along with many others are working to help the people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are working to help the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo by bringing them water and nutritional food. We are also helping teach people about health and bringing basic medical supplies.
Your brother in Christ,
(We are not publishing names of youth on the blog for their safety. But if you would like to contribute to this project, you may send a check made out to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3770 Bellaire Ave, White Bear Lake, MN 55110 and designate it for DR Congo Kingdom Assignment.)
